Program objective

The aim of the program is to train agricultural economists who are capable of establishing and managing small and medium-sized enterprises in the domestic and international agri-food sector. Graduates will be able to perform comprehensive analyses of business operations, solve complex development tasks, and—taking into account sector-specific characteristics—manage and analyze related financial processes as well as oversee commercial activities.
After gaining practical experience, they will be qualified to hold middle and senior management positions in various areas of the domestic and international agri-food economy. They will also be prepared to continue their studies in doctoral programs.

Program description

Graduates of this program acquire in-depth knowledge of the agri-food sector and agricultural production, providing them with a strong competitive advantage among economists in this field. With an understanding of basic production processes and conditions, they are well-prepared to handle daily business management and economic tasks.
The Agricultural Economist specialization is well-recognized across the agricultural and food sectors in Hungary, where there is a strong demand for professionals equipped with both practical economic and technological knowledge.

The primary employment opportunities for graduates are medium and large agricultural enterprises, most of which operate in rural areas. Consequently, graduates of this program contribute to the expansion of the rural intelligentsia. Hungary has a large number of enterprises engaged in agricultural production and/or food processing that seek to employ agronomists and agricultural economists.
