The Department of Agricultural Management and Leadership Sciences is a key department of the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics.
The Department was established in 1987 under the leadership of the late Professor Emeritus Dr. János Dinnyés, who founded human resources education in Hungary. Dr. Ferenc Nemes, a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and a pioneer of management science in Hungary, launched the Management and Organisation degree programme in 2008, which is one of the top Master's programmes at MATE.
The focus of 21st century management education is on people, confirming that the performance of organisations, their development trajectories and their responses to environmental challenges are crucially determined by the qualities of their leaders and staff. Technological upgrading, skilled personnel and well-prepared managers are essential prerequisites for increasing the competitiveness and production efficiency of Hungarian agriculture and directly related industries.
Our colleagues are engaged in education and research in the fields of general human resource management functions, management organisation.
The Department's subjects are taught at all levels of the University, at several training institutions in and beyond the borders, in Hungarian and English.
We attach particular importance to the continuous professional development of the subjects covered, the preparation of related teaching materials and the involvement of external experts and guest lecturers. We also strive to cooperate with our students outside the classroom, we support the thesis work of students interested in the subject as consultants, reviewing, preparing for TDK, OTDK conferences.
Our lecturers also play an active role in national and international professional organisations (e.g. National Association of Human Resource Professionals, Cranfield Network) and strengthen the practice-oriented side of our training with their experience as trainers, coaches, organisational development and human resource management consultants.
