Last modified: 05. October 2022

The fundamental objective of the Department is to contribute to the modernisation of food supply networks, the creation and development of circular, sustainable and competitive product production systems through its teaching, research and development work focusing on the interrelationships between the agricultural and food industries. We strive to provide our students with a complex picture of the functioning of agri-food enterprises as open, dynamic systems, based on state-of-the-art international and national analytical and research methods, with global, European and Hungarian characteristics, showing the dialectical interplay of general and specific trends in their development, taking into account the specificities of their different profiles, sizes and forms of ownership.

By strengthening and expanding the wide network of professional contacts with the competitive sector, in close cooperation with the alumni system of the East-Central European food economy, the scientific student circles and the professional colleges, our students will have the opportunity to participate in the research and development activities of the Department.

We attach great importance to the teaching and development of state-of-the-art, artificial intelligence-based, big data analytical and decision support systems, and to the consistent implementation of the triple human-economy-environment approach in our teaching and research.

Our objective is to make the Department one of the leading centres of European agricultural research, whose teaching spans the whole professional career, and whose research results contribute to the achievement of the global Sustainable Development Goals, to the improvement of the competitiveness of Hungarian agriculture and food industry, and to the realisation of an abundant and safe food supply.
